Reel Talk | The Bobby Brown Story Night I

The popularity gained by BET’s three part New Edition Story prompted a spin off biopic focusing on the groups bad boy, Bobby Brown. Last night BET aired night one of Brown’s story which dug into some rumored scandals involving the Bad Boy of R&B and his obvious cocaine use. But also shines a light on romances R&B Queens such as Janet Jackson, whom had a rumored affair with Brown during her Control era while she was with James DeBarge. Brown pretty much confirms the romance and also admits being in love with Janet who wouldn’t publicly date Bobby which shown by Brown was, well, because he was brown. Alluding that Janet didn’t want to be seen with a dark skinned man. Tell me Auntie Janet didn’t have a preference? Well, Jermaine Dupree wasn’t Bobby brown chocolate but he definitely wasn’t DeBarge worthy either. So what’s really tea?

There were some pretty familiar relationships highlighted on night one, depicted by some not so great casting by BET, Babyface should sue! The two part series is lead by Woody McClain, who reprised his role of Bobby from The New Edition Story. Woody plays a very convincing Bobby Brown, minus the lack of drug usage in part I which also alluded Whitney actually was the one that introduced Bobby to cocaine ON THEIR WEDDING DAY.  Who knows that the truth is. We've heard the opposite takes from either side in each biopic. But, they BOTH were high as kites. The drama was a little light for the premiere episode, aside from Whitney's lesbian love affair shade with her best friend Robyn Crawford, which was rumored for years but slightly confirmed by Brown's biopic, but it look's like things will definitely pick up for night to which airs Tonight, Sept. 5th at 9pm EST. Did you tune in for night one? Tell me your thoughts?
